3D Decoupage With New Sheena Douglass Corner Stamps

Looking for an easy way to add the “wow” factor to the coloring on your cards?  3D decoupage is the process of layering a series of flat images to create one super-dimensional focal point for your project.  This relatively clean and simple congratulations card comes alive with multiple layers of stamped floral images that I colored with my Spectrum Noir markers.

Start by trimming several pieces of Crafter’s Companion UltraSmooth Cardstock to 5.5″ x 8.5″.  Stamp your card front with the floral images and sentiment from the new “Adorable Anemone” set by Sheena Douglass (coming to HSN on March 7th) in Memento Tuxedo Black ink, then stamp the images two to three more times on additional pieces of cardstock.  I used a stamp press to accomplish this more quickly.

Color the images with Spectrum Noir markers (colors listed below).  For the full card front, you’ll need to color all of the stamped image, but for each additional layer, only color the portion of the image that you’ll be cutting out and layering as shown.

Note: Since you’ll be layering the images, you really don’t need to fully color those that will remain at the back of the layered stack…I just enjoy coloring and find that as I do the same image over and over again, my coloring improves and my top layer ends up looking much nicer!

Fussy-cut the images from the top two layers as shown (or use the coordinating dies to get the job started and make things a bit easier!).  To give the cut layers a more finished look, “paint” the edges with a water-based black marker (brush-tipped markers like this one can get into the tiny crevices easily!).

Add a simple border to the card front panel about a half-inch from the edge with a ruler and a Spectrum Noir Artliner marker (Black fine point nib – 03 width).

Blend light yellow ink around the edges of the panel with a foam blending tool to really make the blue flowers pop off the page.

Trim a piece of green cardstock to 8.625″ x 5.625″, a piece of blue cardstock to 8.875″ x 5.875″, and two pieces of white cardstock to 9.15″ x 6.125″ and 9.125″ x 6.625″.  Score the larger white cardstock panel at 0.5″ on the shorter side.

Tie a bow of yellow twine around the bottom corner of the card front panel, add foam adhesive to the back, and press it onto the green mat layer.  Then adhere this to the blue mat layer with tape runner.  Using strong double-sided tape, adhere the extra-large cardbase together at the half-inch scored tab.

After adhering your card front to the white cardbase with tape runner, add the layered images to the card with foam squares, curling the edges of each layer upward a bit for even more dimension.

I hope you enjoyed this 3D decoupage card project and thanks so much for stopping by today!

Thank you Deena! I always include markers colors on my Spectrum Noir posts, so if you click on the “Spectrum Noir” tag at the bottom of the post (grey background, black type), you can find many more posts with color suggestions!
