Autumn Gift Bag

What is it about this time of year that makes gift-giving so much fun?  Today I wanted to share a fall-inspired gift bag that would be perfect for a small gift or even a little Thanksgiving treat using adorable new(ish) stamps and dies from Pink & Main.  Although I’m no longer a member of their design team, I just couldn’t pass up some of the images in the last two releases!

I have been saving this navy, cream, and rose gold color combination for the right project and thought it would be perfect for autumn.  The Flavours Gourmet Candied Blue Violet Cardstock reminds me of a beautiful dark denim color, and I knew it would pair well with the Rose Gold Foil Cardstock and the creamy Savoy 100% Cotton Cardstock.

Start by die-cutting your treat bag from Flavours Gourmet Candied Blue Violet Cardstock (final size is about 5″ tall by 4″ wide).  I used my Silhouette to cut mine (design #33593), but there are many manual die-cutting options as well.  To give the bag texture and interest, stamp a random pattern of small feathers on top (from the “Wild About You” stamp set) with a closely matching ink pad for a tone-on-tone look.

Stamp the cute bear image onto Savoy 100% Cotton Cardstock in clear embossing ink, cover with rose gold embossing powder (The Ton Stamps), and melt it with a heat tool.  Color the image using your preferred method of watercoloring (here I’m using Spectrum Aqua markers with a Zig Detailer Tip Waterbrush).  The Savoy 100% Cotton Cardstock has a very soft finish which gives a unique texture to watercolored images.

Die-cut the wreath (Hero Arts) and sentiment (Pink & Main – “Thanks Dies“) out of Rose Gold Foil Cardstock (this stuff die-cuts beautifully!) and the shadow layer out of Savoy 100% Cotton Cardstock.  Adhere the “thanks” die-cut to its shadow layer with Tombow Mono Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue and punch a hole in the left side to form a tag.

Adhere the wreath to the gift bag using liquid glue and the bear image on top with foam tabs.  Here I’ve also added the center back to the wreath to draw attention to the bear by die-cutting it from Savoy 100% Cotton Cardstock and stamping it with the same small feather stamps using light tan ink.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this autumn gift bag project and thanks so much for stopping by today!  You can visit the CutCardStock store to purchase many of the supplies showcased today and, good news – Flavours Gourmet Cardstock is on sale this month!
