Baby Shower Quilt Card

It seems like everyone around me is pregnant right now…so I was super glad that I already had the Little Angel Collection just waiting to be used for a project when the baby shower invitations started flowing in recently.  (I’m also delighted to say that the little girl I made this card for was born a few weeks ago and is happy, healthy, and home with my cousin now!)

The background was created by first embossing a piece of Neenah Solar White Cardstock with the “Patchwork Quilt” folder and then masking each patch off with Post-It tape before inking lightly with pastel Distress Inks (Spun Sugar,  Tumbled Glass, Dried Marigold, Twisted Citron, Squeezed Lemonade, Milled Lavender) to bring out the patterns.

After die-cutting and embossing that adorable little giraffe, I used the die like a stencil to add Squeezed Lemonade and Dried Marigold inks to the embossed areas for a soft and colorful look.

Once a bow was tied around the embossed panel with some white satin ribbon, I added the Baby sentiment directly on top (cut with the “Beautiful Baby” die and inked with Spun Sugar Distress Ink for a little bit of contrast).

Because I didn’t want to take away from the background too much, I added vellum to the center of the Beautiful Baby frame before popping the giraffe on top with foam squares.  I thought a kraft card base would be the perfect way to add even more softness to this sweet baby card.

Are you celebrating the arrival of any little ones soon?
