With temperatures hitting the 90s lately and bugs galore, it’s safe to say that summer has definitely arrived in my neck of the woods. And the brand new Summer Adventures Release from Rubbernecker Stamps has tons of stamps, stencils, and dies begging to be used on your summertime projects! I created two slimline cards using lots of beachy images from the new release perfect for sending a summer hello.
PIRATE SHIP SLIMLINE CARD
I couldn’t get over how cute the images in the Pirates Under the High Seas Stamp Set were. To use as many images as I could for this project, I created a slimline card with a pirate ship backdrop thanks to some creative diecutting with the Slimline OPC Circle Dash Die.
- Stamp the images from the Pirates Under The High Seas Stamp Set onto white cardstock using black alcohol-friendly ink.
- Color the critters in with Copic markers and cut them out using the coordinating dies.
- Die cut both kraft woodgrain cardstock and gold mirror cardstock using the Slimline OPC Circle Dash Die.
- Trim out just around each of the windows on the gold die-cut to create the gold portholes (if you have a 2.5″ circle die or punch, you can use this to cut out the windows as well).
- Adhere the gold border around each opening on the kraft woodgrain die-cut with liquid glue.
- Trim a piece of turquoise cardstock to 3″ x 8″.
- Stamp the Wavy Line Background Stamp over the entire piece of turquoise cardstock using Serene Ink. You will need to stamp it twice, but can hide any accidental overlap behind the die cut window background.
- Using the die-cut window background as a guide for placement, stamp a sentiment from the Pirates Under the High Seas Stamp Set onto the turquoise panel in Versamark Ink, add white embossing powder, and melt with a heat tool.
- Mat the turquoise panel with navy blue and gold mirror cardstock before adhering it to a top-folding 3.5″ x 8.5″ white card base with tape runner.
- Adhere the die-cut window background on top with foam adhesive.
- Add the critters to the card front with more foam adhesive.
These critters are so cute and I love when a couple of fresh images help me find new ways to use my older supplies again!
HAPPY FISH SLIMLINE CARD
Once again I turned to the slimline format to use as many of the adorable fish in the Under The Sea #2 Stamp Set as I could. To give them a beautiful ocean to swim in, I added a stenciled background and some brightly colored die-cuts.
- Stamp the fish from the Under The Sea #2 Stamp Set onto white cardstock with black alcohol-friendly ink.
- Color the images with Copic markers and cut them out using the coordinating dies.
- Trim a piece of white cardstock to slightly smaller than 3″ x 8″.
- Blend Beachside, Whisper, Dreamer, and Cedar inks all over the panel with a blending brush from top to bottom.
- Die cut some scrap cardstock with the Slimline OPC Fish Scales Die. Secure the die-cut over your inked panel and blend the same inks over the panel for a tone-on-tone effect.
- Once dry, stamp the sentiment from the Under The Sea #2 Stamp Set in Versamark ink, add white embossing powder, and melt with a heat tool.
- Die cut white cardstock with Sea Kelp and Seaweed/Coral Die Sets.
- Color the die-cuts in with Copic markers.
- Die cut kraft cardstock with the Slimline OPC Squares Die.
- Mat the ink blended panel with dark blue cardstock before adhering it to a side-folding slimline white card base measuring 3.5″ x 8.5″ with tape runner.
- Adhere the kraft colored frame on top with foam adhesive.
- Arrange the seaweed and coral die-cuts around the scene and secure them down with liquid glue.
- Pop the fish up around the scene with foam adhesive.
- Add iridescent teal rhinestones to embellish.
