Beautiful Bloom Wedding Card

Oversized florals are all the rage in the stamping world and today I’m giving you a sneak peek at a gorgeous new set coming to HSN on August 16th from Crafter’s Companion (you can get a look at the rest right here…Christmas goodies galore!).  “Beautiful Bloom” is perfect for those who love to color and makes great everyday or special occasion cards like this wedding card here.

I was so in love with the peony image that I actually colored it twice, once on Ultra Smooth Cardstock and then again on vellum.  Strangely enough, I preferred the look when I layered the vellum on top of the other colored image…the flower had lots of depth and the vellum gave it a really classy-looking matte finish that was unexpected!

I ran the vellum piece through my Xyron machine to add adhesive all over the back (so that it would be invisible), pressed it directly on top of the other colored image, and then fussy-cut the double-layered piece leaving a little border.

Once colored and cut out, I set out creating the rest of my card.  The Mr. & Mrs. sentiment (retired, Sara Signature Together Forever Collection) was die-cut several times out of plain black cardstock, adhered together to form a thick embellishment, and coated with shimmer from my clear Spectrum Noir Sparkle Pen.

After adding a strip of black organza ribbon across a sheet of patterned paper trimmed to 5.75″ x 5.75″, I matted it with a 6″ x 6″ piece of black cardstock and mounted the whole thing on a sturdy piece of 6″ x 12″ construction cardstock scored and folded in half.

The Chantilly Lace Stamping Frame (cut from pearl vellum cardstock) was the perfect background to adhere my sentiment and peony image to.  I love how elegant this card turned out and was so happy to accidentally discover a way to layer colored images for a whole new look.

What’s your most memorable happy accident when crafting?
