Birthday Bubble Card

Admittedly, this is one of the weirder cards I’ve made lately…but I needed a fun birthday card and my Simon Says Stamp November Card Kit was still sitting on my bench today.  I designed the bubble overlay in Silhouette Studio (free cut file linked below) and cut this out of one of the 6×6 patterned papers in the kit, placing the thin colorful borders of the paper at the opposite corner as the bubbles.  This was layered over a charcoal gray polka dot paper from the same 6×6 collection.  Then I stamped some of the striped and dotted patterns from the “Love This” stamp set (also included in the kit) onto the scrap circles left over from my cutting and popped these up inside the overlay.
Taking the bubble theme a bit further, I made some seaweed out of the Doodlebug pixie sticks in the kit by crimping the plastic over and over again with my eyelet setter and snipping different lengths off with wire cutters.  The final touches were some enamel dots from My Mind’s Eye and a sentiment from the kit’s stamp set.
My favorite part about designing card overlays – they make great stencils too!  I’ll be posting the stenciled card I’m making with this cut file when it’s finished…in the meantime, feel free to grab the freebie cut file below for yourself.  I will be providing freebie cut files from time to time, but will not be labeling the posts as such…so the easiest way to find out about them is to subscribe using the handy box at the top right of the screen!
