Birthday Owl Treat Bags

Birthday Owl Treat Bags by Annie Williams - Main

I’m back today with a fun project perfect for a child’s birthday party.  These vellum treat bags were cut with my Silhouette and embellished with die-cut stamped images from the “What a Hoot” set by Pink & Main.  I’m so excited that Pink & Main has started offering coordinating dies for some of their stamp sets!

I started by stamping out all of the images from the set onto some Copic X-press Blending Card.  I knew I wanted to decorate my bags with patterned paper, but lately I have had a tendency to color my images however I like and then regret it when I can’t find paper that matches.  So this time, I picked out a pad of paper first (Stella & Rose – Mabel by My Mind’s Eye), then colored my owls to match with Spectrum Noir markers.  Note: Spectrum Noirs bleed way too much on Copic X-press Blending Card…I do not recommend it for these markers!

The dies that coordinate with the “What a Hoot” set cut out pretty much everything except the sentiments!  You can even stamp the smallest star images in colored ink and cut them out…just line up the dies over your images and run your sandwich through your preferred die-cutting machine.

If you do a good job lining them up (I think I did ok for the most part here…), you get that perfect thin white border around your stamped images.

The chevron treat bag cut file is available from Designs on Cloud 9 in the Silhouette Design Store here.  I cut the main bag shape out of “Opal Rain” vellum (the Paper Studio) and adhered the chevrons I made from patterned paper on top.

The circles were cut from some Neenah Solar White cardstock using the Cross-stitched Circle Dies from My Favorite Things.  I adhered the stars directly to the circles with glue, but popped the owl images up with a little foam tape.

Now the bags are ready for filling with your favorite treats and party favors.  I hope you enjoyed this quick and easy project…and I’d love to hear your comments!
