Birthday Tags with AquaBlend Pencils

I have a ton of birthdays every Spring that I need to be prepared for…and most years I can’t keep up with making a handmade card for each one.  Tags are quicker and easier for me to make and still give my recipients the feeling that they got something handmade.  For these bright and colorful tags, I used the new AquaBlend watercolor pencils from Crafter’s Companion.

Both the images and sentiments are from the “Party Time” stamp set.  With large open spaces and easy shapes to color, this set is perfect for practicing your blending with different watercolor mediums.  I had never really used watercolor pencils before, but I loved how creamy and easy to blend these were.

All of my coloring was done on Crafter’s Companion Watercolor Cardstock, which is quickly becoming my favorite to use with my watercolors because it is uber white, pretty smooth, and doesn’t pill like some of my other watercolor papers do when I apply a lot of water.  Once colored, I rounded the corners of the panel and placed it on top of a coordinating piece of cardstock that I had punched with a tag topper punch.  Sparkly enamel dots were added to make them a bit more festive.
