Card Camp Week 2, Day 1 – “Circle Card”

I rarely make shaped cards, so I definitely wanted to try out sketch #1 today.  I also needed a birthday card for my nephew, and when I saw the color scheme for this week I couldn’t get Granny Smith apples out of my head…so I just went for it:

I designed this apple-shaped card in Silhouette Studio…it’s just a simple apple outline with two additional insets for the card front, and a couple of white liners for some writing inside.  I’ll be adding a link at the bottom to download the free cut file in both .studio and .svg formats if anyone would like it for their own personal use. (I just ask that you don’t sell the design and please credit my blog if you post any creations you make with it.)
The card base and first card front layer were cut from Stampin’ Up cardstock.  The second (smallest) card front layer was cut from watercolor paper, heat-embossed in white using this background stamp from Rubbernecker Stamps, and then dredged through pools of Peeled Paint and Tea Dye distress inks.  The sentiment was heat-embossed in white on vellum and adhered to the card using strategically-placed mini glue dots that were balled up for added dimension.  Both the sentiment and worm stamps are from a Fiskars stamp set called “Flower Garden” and the blue jute is from American Crafts.
