Cherry Blossom Fans Card

Hey ya’ll…just stopping in for a quick share of a card I made with my Simon Says Stamp April 2014 Card Kit.  I didn’t really have anyone to send lightbulbs to…so when I saw the stamp set included in the kit, the light rays actually looked like little fans to me.  And since it’s almost springtime here, I turned them into little asian-inspired cherry blossom fans with a heart for a handle.

I first inked up the Flower and Butterfly background stamp from Inkadinkado with Versamark ink and stamped this on some Neenah Solar White cardstock, followed by heat embossing in white.  This would form my “cherry blossom” print when I stamped over it in colored inks.  The fans were then stamped in Tempting Turquoise ink from Stampin’ Up and I also added some flowers from the same stamp set in Real Red ink (SU) with a little masking.

After cleaning up the bit of extra ink on the white embossing with a paper towel, I layered this panel onto some Real Red cardstock and then onto a black card base.  The sentiment was stamped on the same cardstock with Versamark ink, heat embossed in white as well, and popped up over the background using SU dimensionals.  I finished off the card with a tiny baker’s twine bow.
I hope you’re seeing signs of Spring in your neck of the woods and I’d love to hear your comments!
