Clematis in Watercolor

Last week, I shared a bright springtime card I created with this Clematis stamp that was colored with Spectrum Noir ColourBlend Pencils.  After I finished working on that pencil piece, I decided to go back and stamp the image onto watercolor paper in Versafine Vintage Sepia ink and colored it with Spectrum Aqua markers as well.

I ended up preferring the pencil version for a card, but thought the watercolor version would look great as simple framed art.

After shading the image with my markers (listed below) and a waterbrush in a similar manner to my pencil version, I applied a thick line of tan ink around the entire border and drug the color out loosely with water.  Then, I just added a nice embossed double-frame border with a stylus and my scoreboard to finish off the piece a bit more.

I love how different coloring mediums can really add versatility to my “same-old stamps”.  Have you ever gone back try an image in a different medium?

Spectrum Aqua markers used:

  • Flowers – Marigold, Gold, Yellow
  • Leaves – Leaf Green, Moss, Olive
  • Background – Jasmine, Chestnut, Topaz, Fawn, Aquamarine
