Creating Multi-Colored Foil Designs With Foil Transfer Sheets

I was unpacking a box of craft supplies a while back (yes, it’s been over a year since I moved and there are still some unopened boxes!) and I came across this little ceramic plate that I had bought years ago with the intention of decorating it with vinyl.  Well, now I have these gorgeous new Christmas Adhesive Transfer Sheets from Crafter’s Companion, so I figured why not make them even more festive with a little foiling in several different colors!

Foiling in multiple colors with adhesive designs is as easy as fussycutting.  Choose a large design and simply separate different parts of the image with your scissors.  I try to leave an entire layer of a single color intact…you can cut around the holly leaves, for example, and still leave them attached to the pine sprigs for easy application.

Start by applying your outermost layer of the image first…in this case, the greenery.  This helps you find the right spacing on your piece.  Simply rub the design on, lift the backing off, and apply Evergreen foil to the adhesive.

Take time to line up the next color layer within the first layer nicely before rubbing it on the ceramic plate.  Here I added Christmas Red foil to the poinsettia and berries.

The Matte Gold foil was the perfect touch for the center of my poinsettia…it really contrasts with the red and green nicely.

After adding the “Joy” sentiment in Matte Gold foil as well, I threaded the edge of the plate with green satin ribbon to finish the piece off nicely.  I love the custom look of the multi-colored design and can’t wait to try this technique on other pieces for the holidays!
