Double Circle Swing Card

If I can find multiple ways to use a crafty item, I’m a happy girl.  So, after playing around with the new “Circle Centre” Create-A-Card dies (coming to HSN on May 9th from Crafter’s Companion) for a bit, I thought I’d see if I could make a double swing card.

You can just double the length of the card base before you die-cut to create a symmetrical double-flipping mechanism, but that looked odd to me because the proportions seemed off.  Instead, I chose to create a larger square(ish) card with the two focal points symmetrical on the diagonal…which satisfies the rule of thirds a little more nicely than the former option.

This view gives you a better look at how the card is constructed.  I trimmed a piece of white cardstock to 7.5″ x 11.25″ and nestled the main die into opposite corners to score and cut rather than in the center.  After I had cut both swinging circles, I extended the score lines to the edges of the paper with a stylus and scoreboard.

I used the swinging door concept quite literally and hung a tropical wreath on one circle while adding a bright ombré sentiment on the other.  The wreath is composed of sage leaves and miniature flowers cut with dies from the “Herb Garden“, “Sweet William“, and Gemini sets.

Inside the card I added kraft panels embossed with a “Parquet” pattern to give the impression of a hut on a tropical beach (I’ve been dreaming of a vacation lately!).  Coordinating sentiments were die-cut and stamped to the back of the circles as well.

When closed, the circles overlap just slightly, adding to the idea of a door or gate opening.  Altogether, the sentiment reads “Thank you so much sweet friend.  I am so lucky to have you”.

Thanks for stopping by today and I’d love to hear your comments!  What other ways do you think these dies can be used?

Thank you so much Laney! Since the multiples seem like a popular design, I’ll see if I can whip up a tutorial for the CC website soon too to help everyone further.
