Easy Summertime Banner

Happy first day of summer!  To celebrate this joyous occasion, I wanted to stop by and quickly share this easy banner made with loads of crafty goodies from Crafter’s Companion.

The base of each banner flag was cut from the brightest cardstocks in my stash (Lipstick, Sweet Mango, Lemon Drop, Jellybean Green, Turquoise Sea, and Wild Lilac – all from Gina K. Designs) using the “Nicole” Create-A-Card Card Base dies.  Once cut, I ran each through my die-cutting machine with the “Scattered Dots” embossing folder for a little texture.

(The Create-A-Card Base dies are actually great for banners because you can score and fold your cardstock in half before cutting and then just hang the folded flag over the string instead of worrying about punching holes or cutting slits in the top.)

And it couldn’t be summer without a little metallic shine to complement those bright colors…so after cutting several flower shapes from white cardstock with the “Spring Flower” Mixed Media dies, I added gold foiling with my Foil Adhesive Transfer Sheets in a bunch of different patterns.

The letters were die-cut from gold glitter cardstock using a large alphabet die set I have from Stampin’ Up and lots of foam squares were added to stack the pieces of each flag together (I think dimension really makes simple banners like this pop).

To assemble the banner, just fold each flag over some string and secure it closed at the base with more foam squares.

How are you celebrating the first day of summer?
