Golden Anniversary Card

Well it’s just turning out to be a banner week in the US, isn’t it?  First, we had a nice long Independence Day weekend to share BBQ and fireworks with family and friends, and now we have 24-hour craft day on HSN!  Today’s triple-step golden anniversary card uses tons of the new products being demonstrated throughout today’s shows and was actually pretty simple to create.

Unfortunately, I didn’t take step-by-step photos of the process, but hopefully this flat, extended version of the card will give you a better idea of what I did.  This card started with two sheets of “Luxury Matte Mirror Card” from the Together Forever Collection by Crafter’s Companion.  I cut one sheet to 6.5″ x 8″ and scored it at 4″.  Then, I cut the second sheet to 6.5″ x 11″ and scored it at 2″, 4″, 7″, and 10″.  Once scored, you can line up a Die’Sire Edge’ables die on the correct score line to cut the “Bouquet”, “Wedding Bells”, and “Dresses” in the left, center, and right sides of the cardstock, respectively.

I used my Gemini die-cutting machine, so I was able to die-cut entire sheets of card at once.  But since this is a super long card (18″ stretched out), I had to adhere the two base panels together afterwards by placing the last inch of the longer sheet behind the shorter piece.  Folded up, however, this step-card will easily fit into a 5″ x 7″ envelope (A7).

The “Bouquet” die was super intricate and looked pretty awesome embossed in the gold cardstock, so I placed it right up front.  For each front-facing panel, I also added a bit of patterned paper from the “Luxury Foiled Card Pad” from the Together Forever Collection.  After measuring the right size for each layer, I traced the bottom of the Edge’ables dies onto the paper and roughly fussy-cut them out while also adding decorative heart corners with some of the little dies in the “Wedding Bells” set.  The front was also a great place for a subtle “Celebrate” sentiment (Together Forever Collection), cut from the same Matte Mirror Card.

I kept the middle layer simple with just my “Wedding Bells” popping up over a patterned paper panel wrapped in yummy gold satin ribbon.

The final step-layer showcases both the “Dresses” Edge’ables die and the new “Mr. & Mrs.” die from the Together Forever Collection.  I’m definitely going to have to buy more of this matte mirror cardstock because the embossed die-cutting looks amazing in it!

And here is one more photo of the card just a little stretched out.  To be honest, I set out to make this a silver project because I’ve always preferred the look to gold,  but messed up my measurements a few too many times and was running dangerously low on silver supplies.  I’m glad I did though because I really love the super elegant look of the monochromatic gold.  I guess sometimes it takes a few mistakes to push us out of our comfort zones, and the results are usually worth it!
