I know most people don’t make a lot of Halloween cards…but I live pretty far away from my entire family, so sending a note on even the smallest of holidays is important to me. Surprisingly, I’ve been enjoying the chalkboard trend, so I decided to use my Cameo to sketch out a couple of Halloween designs onto black cardstock. Since I have a hard time not incorporating at least a little color in my cards, I also used some metallic colored pencils to color in portions of my sketched elements.
I found some patterned paper in the DCWV “The Midnight Spell” stack that coordinated perfectly with the metallic colors I chose, so I popped the whole panel up on top of it. And since I’ve read that a lot of people have trouble with the Silhouette sketch pens not laying down solid lines or “skipping”, I wanted to show a close up of my card:
I was honestly worried that they wouldn’t work well and they definitely exceeded my expectations. The outlines are crisp and perfectly even…it may help to scribble on some scrap paper to get the pen started before inserting it into your machine. I tried a different color pen on white cardstock to sketch a fall-themed greeting and this worked beautifully too…it turns out that the ink in the sketch pens doesn’t smear when I use my alcohol markers with them, so stay tuned for another sketched card later in the week!
