I really like holidays…so naturally I have plenty of holiday stamps. For today’s challenge, to use holiday stamps to create a non-holiday card, I decided to work with several images from the Fiskar’s “What A Hoot” set and a strand of Christmas lights from TPC Studio’s “Modern Christmas” set:
I used the strand of Christmas lights to make a banner string, while a Christmas tree served as my banner. Each tree was stamped on a different piece of colored cardstock and cut out to form the pennants (this looked really nice in rainbow colors, but I had to stick to the color scheme!). Next, I stamped out my Christmas present and masked it to have my little owls peeking out from behind. Finally, I colored them in with colored pencils and printed out a sentiment I created in MS Word (it’s no coincidence that I used the “Mountains of Christmas” font). I really wanted to use a Christmas tag stamp I had from Hero Arts with a “Happy Birthday” superimposed over the holiday greeting, but it was just a little too big for the rest of the elements so I opted to created my own.
And here’s just a detail shot of my owls…I’m so happy that this challenge got me looking through my holiday stamps again because there are some real gems in there!
I’d love to hear your comments and thanks for stopping by today!
