Operation Penguin Card

Happy New Year (a little late)!  I’m just starting to get back into my craft room and have a quick share for you today.  A little while ago, Operation Write Home issued a call for penguin cards when one of their contacts, a Brigadier General, made a special request for his team.  They are looking for cards that feature a penguin in some way and are neither holiday nor seasonal in nature.  Please have a look at the rules HERE and the “Situation Report” HERE if you are interested in helping out…cards are due by January 15th!

I only have two penguin stamps in my whole collection (really?) and they are both from Lawn Fawn’s “Critters in the Snow” set.  Since they appear to be a parent and a baby penguin, I paired them up with a sentiment from one of the new OWH fundraiser sets, “Lil Hoot” (Hero Arts), to make a general card for a soldier to send home to one of his/her kids.  It skews a little girly with the heart patterned paper (Colorbok), but I think it would make a younger boy pretty happy too.  I’m working on one or two more penguin cards that I will hopefully finish in time…and I will post them when they’re finished!
Oh yeah…and the penguins are colored using Copics…not Spectrum Noir markers…but that’s a post for another time.  Thanks for stopping by and I’d love to hear your comments!

  1. What a cute card! I LOVE penguins! Unfortunately, most of my penguin stamps are Christmas or winter related. I’ll try to figure something out, since it’s for OWH. I’ve sent them cards in the past. Thanks for the link!
