Owl Be Missing You Card

Owl Be Missing You Card by Annie Williams - Main

Hi there!  I’m back today with a sneak peek of some new stamps that will be available soon in the Pink & Main Store.  The soon-to-be-released “Sweet Pair” set features cute images and sentiments perfect for love and missing you cards like this one.  I don’t make many square cards, but it seemed to work for this design and I enjoyed making something a little different from my usual A2 size.

To start, I stamped my images in black hybrid ink from My Favorite Things on some Copic X-press It Blending Card and colored them with Copic markers.  The blue watercolor-y haze around the image was a technique I picked up in the “Coloring Flowers with Copics” class I took in New Orleans last month.  All you need to do is feather out some light blue ink (here I used B000) all the way around your image, and then blend and push the ink back towards the image using the Colorless blender.  (Ok, this technique probably deserves a video…maybe someday soon. 😉 )

After die-cutting the the image with a simple circle die (Sizzix Circle Framelits), I layered this over a heart doily cut with the Heart Circles dies from Spellbinders out of Early Espresso cardstock (Stampin’ Up).  If you are a Silhouette user, you could easily substitute this doily design or one of these background shapes from the Online Store.

I chose a coordinating piece of patterned paper from my stash (I think it’s from an old Colorbok stack) and matted this with some of the same Early Espresso cardstock.  Underneath the doily is a strip of two ribbons layered together to help draw attention to my focal point.  These are from Gina K Designs and are her beautiful Dark Chocolate Gingham and Dark Chocolate Organdy ribbons.

Next, I added a sentiment stamped from the same “Sweet Pair” stamp set in pink pigment ink (Martha Stewart) and heat embossed it using clear embossing powder.  The label shapes were created using two different punches – “Modern Label” and “Window Word” from Stampin’ Up.  To finish off the card, I adhered a set of clear sequins (4, 6, and 8mm Clear Sparkling sequins from Pretty Pink Posh) to the empty corners.

I’ll be back on Friday with a new Silhouette post…thanks for stopping by and I would love to hear your comments!
