Ribbon Threaded Shaker Card

This week, Crafter’s Companion is releasing a ton of new dies in their online store along with the fabulous Gemini electronic die-cutter.  One of the new styles they’ve created are ribbon-threading dies…which can add a ton of color and texture to an otherwise simple card like this one!

I used the “Mollie” ribbon-threading die to cut this intricate floral background out of kraft cardstock.  Starting in the center, I cut each row one-by-one until I had covered the entire piece. After threading maroon and brown one-quarter inch satin ribbon through each row, I added a stitched frame, brown satin bow, and the “Celebrate” sentiment cut from gold foil cardstock.

The bright gold sequins from my stash were too large to fit through any of the die-cut holes, so I simply added a thin frame of foam tape under the outer edges of my panel and tossed a ton of them in (no acetate necessary!).  To close off my shaker pocket, I placed a piece of maroon cardstock on top and adhered the entire piece to heavyweight white cardstock.  I love the autumn feel of this color combination…and who doesn’t smile when they receive a shaker card!

Do you have any unique dies like this in your stash?
