Shine Bright Card

Moonstruck Card by Annie Williams - Main

Who’s ready for a looooong holiday weekend?  I could certainly use an extra day to get things done!  Before all of the fun begins this weekend, I’m stopping by quickly to share a card I made with the newly released Verity Rose Collection from Crafter’s Companion.  This image, “Moonstruck“, reminded me of fireworks-gazing, so I thought it fitting to save this project until today.

Actually the image isn’t stamped…it’s from the Verity Rose Coloring Pad…and can I tell you how long I’ve wanted stamp companies to make something like this?!  When the adult coloring trend started, I went out to my bookstore immediately and bought a coloring book to try because I figured this kinda thing was right up my alley.  And I was really, really wrong – first, because the paper in most adult coloring books really only plays well with colored pencils or gel pens (and I want to use everything else!) and second, because those tiny little spaces that I’m supposed to color in just give me anxiety!  So this little coloring pad is a dream for stampers like me…it’s the size of image I’m used to coloring with no tiny designs laced into it and it’s printed on thick, smooth cardstock meant for coloring with “real” pens.  Please let this be the start of a trend!

Anyway, I tore out a page from my pad, colored it in with my Spectrum Noir markers, and fussy-cut it out.  Then I stamped one of the sentiments from the “Moonstruck” set and die-cut it to fit on top of the doily-shaped moon in the corner of this pre-printed card base from the Card Blanks Pad.

One of the finishing details was a ribbon border to ground my image, which I cut from some White Pearl Shimmering Cardstock and threaded with ¼” pink satin ribbon to pull out the colors in my character’s chair.  After trimming out some corner flowers from coordinating paper in the 6×6 paper pad and placing them over the ends of the ribbon border, I thought this card looked nice enough to be called done.

I hope you have time for some fireworks-gazing this weekend and have a safe and happy 4th of July!  Thanks so much for stopping by today and I’d love to hear your comments!
