Hi there! I’m back today with some pretty springtime home decor made using Classic Pearl Linen Cardstock from CutCardStock.com. This floral heart wreath is perfect for dressing up your front door or hanging above your fireplace to bring a little color to your home during those last days of winter. With the help of a pre-made grapevine heart and your Silhouette, it can come together rather quickly too!
There are many beautiful options for white cardstock in the CutCardStock store, and the Neenah classic crest and linen papers are no exception. Neenah Classic Crest Solar White is a beautiful, smooth, and bright white cardstock that is a great choice for general crafting, cardmaking, and coloring with alcohol markers. For a little added refinement and class, Neenah Classic Linen Cardstock has a gorgeous subtle texture that elevates your cards or 3D papercrafting projects.
Today, I chose to create the paper flowers for my wreath out of Neeneah Classic White Pearl Linen Cardstock. The pearl finish combined with the subtle linen texture of this cardstock was the perfect choice for sculpting eye-catching 3D roses.
Start by die-cutting the layers for your 3D roses out of Neenah Classic White Pearl Linen Cardstock with your Silhouette, using the flower from this box design (#117272) and the “textured cardstock” setting in the Studio software. If you don’t have a Silhouette, many different punches or 3D flower dies would work as well. My final roses were about 3 inches and 1.5 inches in diameter.
Blend ink onto the edges of each petal to add color and dimension to the final flower piece. I chose a coral color, but red, pink, purple, and yellow all work well for roses. Spread green ink evenly over the surface of your leaves to create shimmery green foliage for your wreath.
Sculpt the flower petals with either your fingers as shown here, a pencil, or specialized ball stylus tools.
Curl the petals of the lower layers downward and those of the upper layers upward.
Adhere the layers together by placing a generous dollop of Tombow Mono Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue in the center and holding them in place for several seconds. Continue to add progressively smaller layers while sculpting the petals into your desired shape.
Adhere the elements to a preformed grapevine wreath with hot glue. I find it easiest to arrange all of the leaves and flowers roughly first, take a quick picture on my phone of the layout to use as a guide, and then remove the top layer of elements to begin gluing those below.
Cover the entire wreath form with flowers, or just a small portion like I did here for a more casual and natural look.
Cut a 24 inch piece of polyester satin ribbon, tie a simple bow, and leave the tails long. Trim the ends of the tails into a fishtail with scissors by folding the tail in half and cutting diagonally.
Adhere the bow to the opposite side of the heart with hot glue. Hang these pretty flowers on your front door now and wait for nature to catch up!
