Sweet Hummingbird Card

Sweet Hummingbird Card by Annie Williams - Main

The ruby-throated hummingbirds have just started to migrate back into my area in the last week or so and I am so excited!  We usually see two sets of them in our yard every year and have several feeders out to try and prevent any potential hummingbird wars.  I love watching these little guys and hearing them buzz overhead as they move from the feeder to the trees above.

In honor of my returning friends, I wanted to share a simple watercolor card I made with the new “Hummingbirds” stamp set from Pink & Main.  I started by trimming a watercolor panel to 5.25″ x 4″ and stamping my images and sentiment with Versafine Onyx Black ink.  Then, I added clear embossing powder and melted it with my heat tool.

Although it might be hard to see, I colored the images with my Spectrum Noir Sparkle Pens to add lots of bright color and shimmer.  Just add the colored sparkle ink to the areas where the darkest shadows would be and pull the color gently out with a clear sparkle pen to create a fun watercolor look with tons of sparkle.

I poked a hole in the card front just under the feeder’s hook to add a small length of gold cording and a bow.  A couple of colored mats helped to frame out this simple card nicely before adding a heavy white cardbase.

Thanks so much for stopping by today and I would love to hear your comments!
