Tiled Thank You Cards

Looking for an easy way to create a large set of thank you cards quickly or even use up some of the scraps of cardstock you may have laying around your craft space?  Today’s technique builds up many layers of subtle texture to create cards with big impact.

Start by stamping a random leaf pattern (Simon Says Stamp) all over a piece of cardstock with Versamark ink.  Here I’m using about a quarter-sheet (4.25″ x 5.5″) of Flavours Gourmet cardstock in Chestnut Creme, Chili Arbol, and Caramelized Mustard along with Basis Orange cardstock, but you can use larger pieces to create even more cards for your set.

Cut the stamped panels up into either 1″ or 1.5″ squares using a paper trimmer.  Then, ink the edges of each square with Vintage Photo Distress ink to add definition and interest.

Trim a piece of Basis Natural cardstock to 4″ x 5.25″ for each card you plan to make.  Adhere the inked squares to these panels using Tombow Mono Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue in the pattern of your choosing.  Here, I’ve used a grid pattern for the 1.5″ squares and an offset pattern for the 1″ squares.  Once adhered, trim the excess from each panel with scissors or a paper trimmer.

Run each panel through an embossing folder to make the tiled cardstock look like patterned paper and add another layer of texture.  Small, tight patterns like I’ve used here are best for this technique.

Die-cut a sentiment from Basis Natural cardstock for each card.  Create card bases from Basis Natural cardstock as well by trimming it to either 4.25″ x 11″ or 5.5″ x 8.5″ and scoring and folding at 5.5″ and 4.25″, respectively.

Add a mat layer of Flavours Gourmet Chili Arbol cardstock cut to 4.175″ x 5.375″ and adhere the panels to the card base with tape runner.  Add the die-cut sentiment to the lower corner with Tombow Mono Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue.

This version was finished in the same way, except the card base was made top-folding in the landscape orientation.  It’s so easy to make a ton of these cards at once…and they would make a great gift during this time of the year!
