Using Leftovers from my OWH Memorial Day Bloghop Card

I don’t always generate a ton of scraps and half-colored images when I make cards, but it definitely occurs more when I’m challenged with a certain color scheme or sketch for another blog or online class.  So, after a couple of attempts at putting together a suitable red, white, and blue card for this past weekend’s OWH Memorial Day Bloghop, I had a lot of leftovers that seemed too nice to throw away.  This is what I came up with:

The mailbox, envelopes, and sentiment are all from Lawn Fawn’s “You’ve Got Mail” set and were stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black and colored in with Copics.  The polka dot stripes, from the “Nautical Borders” set by Simon Says Stamp, were stamped in Memento Luxe inks (Rhubarb Stalk and Nautical Blue) and coated with clear embossing powder.
I cut the arrow shape for the sentiment by hand and then inked it with Fired Brick Distress Ink because it just seemed to get lost on the card when it was all white.  Then, I just rounded the one boring corner with  my corner chomper to finish off the card.
I’m not sure if I like this card even better than my original bloghop submission, but I think it definitely pays to step away from a project sometimes and come back later to fit the pieces together better.  Thanks for taking a look and I’d love to hear any comments you may have!
I am also entering this card into the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge found here.

  1. I really like this card! That’s another stamp set I need, because I’m always sending mail to my two sons who live away from home.
