Valentine’s Day Tissue Box Cover

Today I wanted to share this cute Valentine’s Day tissue box cover that I cut with my Silhouette CAMEO and embellished with stamps from Pink & Main.  These adorable raccoons are part of the “Key to My Heart” mini set (free with a $30 purchase this month while supplies last).

Once assembled, the tissue box cover (design #74584) slips over a standard square Kleenex box.  I cut mine out of an old Valentine’s Day themed DCWV stack from my stash, making sure to ink all of the edges of the design elements with Antique Linen Distress Ink for a nice finish.

I love raccoon images…and raccoons.  Several years ago, my husband and I were visiting a small zoo after a day of hiking and the owners had just rescued a litter of baby raccoons.  They were in a large enclosure and reaching out for us as we walked by, so I stuck my hand out for them and they started grabbing it and feeling my palm with their fingers.  They were super adorable and I just loved their curiousity!  It turns out they’re very intelligent animals and quite the problem solvers…but I’m sure your trash can knows that already.

Anyway, I colored up four of the images with my Copic markers, fussy-cut them out, and popped them up on top of the hearts on each side of my box with foam squares.

In fact, all three of my heart layers were adhered together with foam squares because I loved how much dimension it gave my box (which sounds dumb, because it’s already three dimensional).

Although this box was intended just to be used as my own home decor, I think it makes a great gift too (with a sappy movie and chocolates, perhaps)!  Are you decorating for Valentine’s Day?
