Watercolor Valentine

Watercolor Valentine by Annie Williams - Main

Anyone still working on last minute Valentine’s Day cards?  This one can really be used as an “everyday card”, but I did finish it in time for this weekend just in case I needed an extra.  And if I don’t, it’s also perfect for Mother’s Day!

Those gorgeous flowers are from the “Floral Fancies” set and I stamped them in Versafine Onyx Black ink onto some Crafter’s Companion Watercolor Cardstock before coloring them with my Spectrum Aqua markers.

Since the image was so tall and skinny, I struggled with a way to add a stamped sentiment to the card.  Every layout I tried just didn’t look balanced!  Thank goodness for that Edge’ables sentiment die…a quick run of it through my die-cutting machine with some patterned paper and I had the perfect panel to place my watercolored image on.

The bottom and sides of the die don’t cut, so you can add the sentiment to any size panel you wish.  My patterned paper was about a half-inch longer than the die, so I just needed to add two snips with my scissors on either side to release the top edge.  And since the die-cut is so ornate, I decided to forego my usual sequins, twine, or ribbon and leave the card simple.

Thanks so much for stopping by today and I’d love to hear your comments!
