Spellbinders June 2023 Club Kits

Happy Friday friends!  The June 2023 Club Kits from Spellbinders have been revealed and there are some beautiful ocean-themed designs this month!  Today I’m sharing seven card projects featuring the Large Die of the Month, Small Die of the Month, Glimmer Kit of the Month, Clear Stamp of the Month Kit, Embossing Folder of the Month, 3D Embossing Folder of the Month, Stitching Die of the Month, and Clear Stamp & Die of the Month Kits.

LARGE DIE OF THE MONTH

This month’s Large Die of the Month Kit, “Whale In A Bottle“, is a massive set of 20 dies that can be used to create a nearly A2-sized bottle with cork and fill it with an adorable whale and beautiful ocean scenery.  I used the set to make this fun shaped card to send a sweet summery hello!

I started by cutting a top-folding A2-sized white card base with the outer bottle die, running it through my diecutting machine a couple of times to create the shaped card base.  After building my scene on top of the card base with tons of colorful cardstock (there are easy-to-follow instructions available from Spellbinders), I added Crystal Mix Gems to look like bubbles.  I also added a little texture to the sandy hills in the bottle by embossing them with the Splatter Embossing Folder.  I love this unique summery card!

SMALL DIE OF THE MONTH

This month’s Small Die of the Month Kit, “Dancin’ Octopus & Friends“, is another fun set perfect for interactive summertime cards.  The kit contains 12 cutting dies that allow you to cut an adorable, layered octopus and jellyfish whose tentacles move when the project is shaken, plus a sign and some ocean scene-building designs.  I created a bright mini slimline hello card with it, perfect for sending a summery hello.

I started by applying Tumbled Glass, Salty Ocean, and Blueprint Sketch Distress Oxide Ink over a panel of white cardstock trimmed to 3.25″ x 6.25″, splattering water droplets on top to give the appearance of ocean bubbles.  Then I cut a small sand bar out of Dune Cardstock using the Color Block Scenic Scape Dies and splattered brown and grey inks on top for more texture.  Once my background was complete, I cut all of the elements out of colorful cardstock using the kit and assembled this cute scene.  A sentiment from this month’s Clear Stamp of the Month Kit completes the card.

GLIMMER KIT OF THE MONTH

This month’s Glimmer Kit of the Month, “Sending Waves” contains 3 Glimmer plates that can be used to foil two strips of waves and a fun sentiment as well as four dies to cut either the top or bottom edge of each wave design.  An optional add-on set, “Ocean Wishes Sentiments“, gives you four more beautiful sentiments as well as dies to cut them out!  I applied Prism Hot Foil to white cardstock and inked the bottom of each wave for this easy and cute birthday card.

After adding the waves to the bottom of my card front with foam adhesive, I cut two of the whale tails from this month’s Large Die of the Month out of some shimmery iridescent paper (Tessler Crafts) to create mermaid tails.  Tucking them into the surf, I added a cute shimmery starfish from this month’s Small Die of the Month and a pretty sentiment foiled using the add-on Ocean Wishes Sentiments Glimmer Plate Set.

STITCHING DIE OF THE MONTH

This month’s Stitching Die of the Month is another beautiful one with simple stitching perfect for beginners!  This month’s kit, “Stitched Shell Card Front“, is a set of seven dies that create a beautiful seashell frame card front pattern with small seashells that you can easily stitch or leave as-is.  I thought this kit would be perfect for creating a photo card, so I used the smallest frame die in the set to crop a cute beach photo of my daughter.

I cut the shells from white cardstock and inked them with a pretty blend of Distress Oxide Inks before stitching them with gold metallic thread and adding a Bella Adhesive Pearl.  The background design was cut from Dune Cardstock and adhered to a shaped card base I made out of some folded white cardstock.  The final touch was a cute sentiment foiled in gold using the Ocean Wishes Sentiments Glimmer Plate Set.

CLEAR STAMP & DIE OF THE MONTH KIT

This month’s Clear Stamp of the Month Kit, “Water You Up To” is a set of 15 stamps that contains a bunch of cute ocean life images and tons of beautiful sentiments to stamp alongside any of the summery kits this month.  If your subscription includes the coordinating dies, you’ll also get 12 dies to cut nearly all of the images and sentiments out.  I stamped the images onto watercolor paper with Versafine Clair Nocturne Ink and watercolored them for this bright and fun hello card.

To create the ocean background, I trimmed a piece of Glacier Cardstock to about 3.25″ x 4.5″, embossed it with this month’s Embossing Folder of the Month, and added Salty Ocean and Tea Dye Distress Ink over the raised areas for a little more color.  After adhering my ocean friends and a sentiment to the panel with foam adhesive, I added the whole thing to a top-folding A2-sized white card base that had been embossed with the same folder.

3D EMBOSSING FOLDER OF THE MONTH

This month’s 3D Embossing Folder of the Month is so beautiful I wanted to keep it as the focal point!  “Scattered Shells” is exactly what it sounds like and perfect for any summer or beach-themed card.  I inked a panel of white cardstock with Salty Ocean, Tumbled Glass, and Tea Dye Distress Oxide Ink before embossing it with the Scattered Shells Embossing Folder, then rubbed a white pigment ink pad over the raised areas to bring out the design a bit more.

To keep the focus on that gorgeous background design, I only added a sentiment to this card!  After applying Gold Hot Foil to white cardstock using the Sending Waves Glimmer Plate Set, I cut it out using the smallest oval in the Fluted Classics Ovals Die Set and popped it up on top with foam adhesive.  This card just screams BEACH to me (and how beautiful would this pattern be on scrapbook pages too?)!

EMBOSSING FOLDER OF THE MONTH

Lastly, let me finally introduce you to this month’s Embossing Folder of the Month, “Splish Splash“.  It is the perfect background for summer cards, but the subtle pattern makes it great for any kind of card.  I trimmed a panel of white cardstock to 4″ x 5.25″ and embossed it with the Splish Splash embossing folder for this simple and pretty thank you card.

I loved the little shells from this month’s Stitching Die of the Month so much that I brought them out again for this project, this time inking them in pretty pastel colors and stitching them with Gold Metallic, Silver Metallic, and White Metallic thread.  The sentiment was applied to white cardstock using Aura Hot Foil and the Seashorse Floral Glimmer Plate Set and added next to the grouping of shells.  I finished the card off with a couple of Crystal Mix Gems.
