Hello again friends! Today I’m excited to share another new collection from the September release by Spellbinders – the Winter Tales Collection. Inspired by Norwegian folk art and complete with all of the most popular winter icons, this collection is perfect for all styles of holiday cards from clean and simple to elegant and fussy. I created three sweet Christmas cards in non-traditional colors with the collection and can’t wait to use these designs for other seasons as well!
MAGICAL DEER CARD
I couldn’t get over how sweet the Magical Deer Die Set was, so I started with this set first. After cutting the magical deer out of white, brown, pink, Phone Booth, and Mirror Gold Cardstock, I pieced him together with liquid glue. Then I cut him a snow bank to stand on out of white cardstock using the Color Block Scenic Scape Die Set.
For the background, I embossed some peach cardstock from my stash with the Ski Lodge Embossing Folder and added it to a top-folding A2-sized white card base with tape runner. Then I popped the snowbank and deer up on top with foam adhesive and added a pretty sentiment embossed in gold using the Peace & Joy Stamp Set.
NORDIC ORNAMENT CARD
Next I wanted to create a pretty and simple card with the beautiful Nordic Ornaments Die Set. I chose the larger ornament from the set, because it’s large enough to serve as a focal point alone on a card, and cut it out of some purple, pink, red, and mustard cardstock. Once pieced together with liquid glue, I added a small bow of thin red ribbon.
I embossed my background again with the Ski Lodge Embossing Folder (this time with some Alabaster Cardstock) because I love how you can easily change the look of the background just by moving your paper up or down within the rows of the beautiful pattern. To finish the card off, I stamped another pretty sentiment from the Peace & Joy Stamp Set with purple ink and popped it up underneath the ornament with foam adhesive.
PEACEFUL FLOWERS CARD
My last card features the beautiful Enchanted Garden Die Set…with 19 different dies, you can create countless different floral stems with this set! I cut a few of the flowers out of Glacier, Raindrop, Cosmic Sky, Poppy Field, Lunar Gray, and Graphite Cardstock and pieced them together with liquid glue.
Next I trimmed a piece of white cardstock to 4″ x 5.25″ and embossed the top two-thirds of it with the Ski Lodge Embossing Folder before adhering it to a top-folding A2-sized white card base with foam adhesive. Then I stamped the letters from the Peace & Joy Stamp Set in blue ink, fussycut them out with scissors, and popped them up underneath my flowers with more foam adhesive.
