Christmas Kaleidoscope Card

It’s the day after Thanksgiving, and everything suddenly screams Christmas to me now (ok, if I’m being honest, I’ve probably had this problem for about a month…).  So when Spellbinders sent me the new Kaleidoscope Triangles dies to try out, I couldn’t help but imagine these beautiful layered shapes as Christmas trees covered in poinsettias and berries.

The Kaleidoscope Triangles dies come as a set of three slightly different die designs that you can use separately or stack two or three for a pretty layered look.  And thanks to their sensible shape, you can cut tons of them and arrange them in different ways for countless background or focal image options.  (I could never justify buying those gorgeous layering background die sets because of how expensive they are, but these are an idea I can get behind!)  I cut two layers using different shades of red cardstock and the top layer using white cardstock to create a pretty poinsettia look with mine.

They are super easy to layer up thanks to the three straight sides, so I just dabbed a little liquid glue around each die cut and quickly had six completed pieces.  I trimmed a piece of green cardstock to 2.25″ x 5.5″ to serve as the backdrop for my design strip.

Using a centering ruler, I adhered the triangle in the center of the panel first so that my design would look perfectly even across my card.  After that, I just staggered the rest of the triangles until I reached the edge, and trimmed any excess die cuts off with a pair of scissors.

To finish the card front, you’ll need to trim two pieces of white cardstock to 1.5″ x 5.5″ and 0.5″ x 5.5″.  I added a hot-foiled sentiment from November’s Glimmer Kit of the Month to the larger white panel using gold foil and my Glimmer Hot Foil Machine.

To assemble, adhere the kaleidoscope panel to a top-folding A2-sized white card base using tape runner, then pop the two white panels up on either side with foam adhesive.  The panels on the card front will all end up around the same height this way, giving it a an almost stained-glass window appearance.

I hope you enjoyed this easy die-cut Christmas card project and thanks so much for stopping by today.  How would you arrange these fun shapes on your card for a unique look?
