Happy Thanksgiving! I won’t take much of your time today and I hope you have a great day planned, but I wanted to share a quick tutorial for this easy autumn table décor project made with chipboard embellishments from the Clear Scraps shop. These fun and easy handmade napkin rings are the perfect last-minute project for Thanksgiving and are also a great way to keep the kids busy before the big meal!
Start by trimming the Pumpkins Chipboard Embellishments out of their packaging with a pair of scissors. Then paint them in various shades using Marmalade, Orange Soda, and Spring Pasture acrylic paint (kid-safe paints or inks can easily be substituted in this step to make it a family-friendly project). I chose to layer the pumpkins, so painted the outline image in a slightly lighter orange (Orange Soda) than the solid image (Marmalade), but you can also use the shapes separately if desired. Allow the pieces to dry completely before proceeding.
Adhere the outline pumpkin shapes to the solid pumpkin shapes using a strong liquid glue like Beacon 3-in-1 glue. Trim a short length of ribbon for each napkin ring (here I’m using about nine inches of gold organza ribbon per ring) and adhere the center of it to the back of the pumpkin embellishments using Beacon 3-in-1 glue.
Fold up your napkins in the style that suits you (there are tons of online sources for napkin folding and this style has always been my favorite!) and slip your silverware inside. Wrap the ribbon around the folded napkin and tie the ribbon in the back with a small, pretty bow. Place on each plate at Thanksgiving dinner for a fun way to add just a little more pumpkin to the evening.
