Spellbinders Card Kit of the Month – October 2020

Have you started your Christmas cards yet?  It’s always a last minute rush for me, so I’m grateful for anything that makes the work fun and easy like this month’s Card Kit of the Month from Spellbinders.  The “Dancin Santa” kit is full of gorgeous holiday papers, cute stamps and die cuts, and an adorable die set that builds an animated Santa!

This month’s die-cuts are so cute.  With elves, animals, and tons of sentiments, you can make tons of different cards just using this pack of holiday shapes.  I thought these two penguins facing each other were perfect for hanging decorations (or holding a sentiment banner) and built a wintry scene using just the die cuts in the kit on top of a snowy pattern from the beautiful paper pad.

Note: Since the paper pad and die cut shapes are part of the club kits extras that are released separately, you can actually make cards likes this without the kit!

Using a few more of the die cut shapes, I dangled a trio of foiled ornaments on top of another pretty pattern from the paper pad with thin gold “thread” (strips trimmed from the gold cardstock in the kit).  A puffy sentiment sticker finished off this clean and simple card.

The stamp set this month is so much fun…the main image is this adorable deer that I stamped in Raven Hybrid Ink and colored with Copic markers before fussycutting it out.  To make a soft background for my deer to frolic in, I trimmed some of the white cardstock in the kit to about 3″x 4″, blended Marina Madness Hybrid Ink around the top edges, and then stamped the three little snowflakes in the set around the panel using the same blue ink.  Then I added a couple of die-cut trees and a foiled sentiment before calling this card complete.

I saved what I think is the best part of the kit for last…the adorable Dancin Santa die set!  This die set builds a fun character where the legs hang loose and rock back and forth when shaken.  Here I had a little fun creating a Pandemic Santa who shops online and just got off his Zoom call in his boxers, but you can certainly create a normal Santa too.  🙂

I made a little animation so you can see him in action.  Just think of all of the adorable ways you can use this die set (he’d make a great elf as well)!

I hope you enjoyed this look at the October 2020 Card Kit of the Month and thanks so much for stopping by today. If you missed my posts featuring some of the other October club kits, you can find them here and here.
