Just this past weekend, I finally finished filling my porch and entryway with tons of pumpkins, hay bales, and flint corn…so when I saw the latest Large Die of the Month Kit from Spellbinders, “Always Welcome“, I knew I had to create a card that resembles my new autumn display. This month’s kit includes everything you need to create a dimensional and even functional doorway that you can customize for any occasion or any friend’s home.
I started by cutting the door mechanism from black cardstock and the frame from white cardstock. Details like the window, mail slot, and door knob were cut from matte silver cardstock while the envelope and welcome mat were cut from kraft cardstock. Once assembled (instructions are included with the kit and are very easy to follow!), I placed the door and frame on top of a top-folding white card base covered with a piece of grey cardstock that I had scored every half inch on my scoreboard to create the look of siding.
To give my doorway an autumn feel, I cut the wreath included in the kit from olive, yellow, and orange cardstocks and added a few of the leaves from this month’s Small Die of the Month Kit (colored with Copic markers) to the ground in front of it. A big ol’ pumpkin, cut with the Jack O Lantern die set and shaded a bit with Copic markers, and a black cat cut with the Kitty Cats die set, finished off this fun fall look.
And don’t forget about that working door mechanism! I cut a sentiment from white cardstock using the Happy Fall die set and colored it in matching autumn colors with Copic markers for a fun surprise.
