Spellbinders/FSJ Stamp of the Month – March 2020

I love a good sentiment stamp set.  They’re always there for you when you’re struggling to find the right way to finish off your card and they lend themselves beautifully to the clean and simple card style I love.  When I saw this month’s Spellbinders/FSJ Stamp of the Month Kit, I had too many ideas about how I wanted to use it, and it took me a while to narrow it down to these two bright and cheerful designs.

The Sentiment Stacks stamp set includes 36 cling stamps (mostly sentiments with some small images and flourishes too) that can all be mixed and matched to stack up the perfect greeting for your card or scrapbook page.  I gravitated toward some of the “sketchier” types of words and images in the set, and decided to create a colorful, splashy background for this card.

CREATING A STACKED SENTIMENT “SUNRISE”

  •  Stamp the “oh hey” and “thanks” sentiments from the Stacked Sentiment stamp set onto white cardstock using Tide Pool Ink.
  •  Die cut the stacked sentiment out using the second smallest solid circle die from the Essential Circles die set.
  •  Stamp the “I appreciate you” sentiment onto yellow cardstock in Versamark Ink, cover it in white embossing powder and melt with a heat tool.
  •  Trim the yellow cardstock into a parallelogram using a paper trimmer or scissors.
  •  Add some shading to the sentiments with the Tiki Teal Tombow Dual Brush Pen (#407).  Flick upward from the bottom over the solid parts of the “thanks” image to create a little interest.  Use the fine tip on the marker to add a tiny bit of a shadow next to the embossed letters in the “I appreciate you” sentiment.
  •  Adhere the yellow sentiment strip to the bottom of the circular sentiment panel with liquid glue (trim the circle off at the bottom if the strip doesn’t cover it fully).
  •  Pop the whole “sentiment sunrise” (these summer-y colors made me think of the sun!) up on top of the card front using foam adhesive.

I hope you enjoyed this look at the March 2020 Stamp of the Month kit and thanks so much for stopping by today.  If you like these projects, be sure to grab any of the Spellbinders Club Kits before they’re gone!
