Looking for a fun way to deliver a series of cards or to package a gift card? Today I wanted to share an unusual technique for sending Mother’s Day, graduation, or just everyday happy wishes using Brown Bag Kraft Envelopes from CutCardStock and stamps from Pink & Main…with an accordion envelope card!
Let’s start with the materials. You’ll need several types of Curious Metallic Cardstock and enough Brown Bag Envelopes for the length of accordion you wish to create. I chose Bag Flap Envelopes because of their classic design and Red Lacquer, Nude, and Chocolate Curious Metallic Cardstocks to coordinate with my patterned paper.
Start by adhering the flap of each envelope in your accordion to the back of the preceding envelope using a strong tape runner. Add as many envelopes as you would like (I used three here) and seal the flap of the first envelope shut.
Stamp sentiments from the “Believe Script” stamp set onto each panel (envelope) with Versamark ink, add white embossing powder, and melt it with a heat tool.
Trim two pieces of Chocolate Curious Metallic Cardstock and one piece of Red Lacquer and Nude Curious Metallic Cardstock to 4.25″ x 5.5″. Trim your coordinating patterned paper (“My Story” – My Mind’s Eye) to 4″ x 5.25″.
Adhere the patterned paper to the Chocolate cardstock with tape runner. These panels will serve as the front and back of the envelope card. The Red Lacquer and Nude cardstock panels will form notecards to place in the pockets of the envelope card. Emboss a pretty border on these using an embossing folder (Stampin’ Up) if desired.
I stamped a third sentiment from the “Believe Script” set onto a Red Lacquer panel using Versamark ink and white embossing powder to make my recipient feel like she was receiving a flurry of inspirational messages in this card. To the Nude embossed panel, I adhered a giftcard a little bit of tape runner.
Trim some Chocolate cardstock to 9.5″ x 1″ and Nude cardstock to 9.5″ x 0.75″. Emboss the Nude cardstock with an embossing folder if desired and adhere it on top of the Chocolate cardstock. Die-cut a flower and leaves (Crafter’s Companion) from Red Lacquer and Chocolate cardstock. Ink the edges with brown ink to add a little depth.
Adhere the matted pattern paper panels to the front and back of the envelope card with tape runner. Fold the envelope card up (if you are using three envelopes, it will fold like a “Z”) and place the long strip of cardstock underneath of it. Leaving a little wiggle room, fold the strip of cardstock around the sides of the accordion and adhere them in the front where they meet. Cover the seam of the belly band with your die-cut rose and leaves (butterflies or simple circles would work here as well).
The back of the envelope card and belly band should look nice and clean like this.
Your recipient will just need to slide the belly band off and pull the accordion open to reveal tons of inspiring messages, notecards, giftcards, and whatever else you want to fill the pockets with!
