Glitter Rose Card

With Mother’s Day just around the corner and nature finally starting to wake up from its long winter’s nap (in my area anyway!), I thought it was the perfect time to create a bold floral card.  This project is clean and simple, but boasts a bit of elegance thanks to the gorgeous glitter and shimmer cardstocks in the CutCardStock store.

Start by trimming a piece of Onyx Stardream Metallic Cardstock to 5″ x 7″ and a piece of Crystal Stardream Metallic Cardstock to 4.75″ x 6.75″.  Emboss the white shimmer panel with a brick embossing folder or other subtle pattern.

Die cut each rose (Elizabeth Craft Designs) from both Pink Sapphire Mirrisparkle Glitter Cardstock and Pow Black Glitter Paper.  Die cut the solid rose shape from any white cardstock such as Neenah Classic Crest Solar White.

Apply tape runner over the entire solid rose die-cut and place the black glitter outline shape directly on top.  Then inlay all of the pink sapphire pieces within the outline like a puzzle as shown (a crystal picker or even white crayon can help transfer the tiny pieces with ease).  Create the negative version of the rose with the leftover die-cuts if desired (see black rose with pink outline).

Die cut the leaves and stems from Evergreen Mirrisparkle Glitter Cardstock.  To mimic the bold black outline of the flowers, trace around the edges of the die-cuts with a black alcohol-based marker.

Foil a sentiment onto Onyx Stardream Metallic Cardstock using a foil stamp (Spellbinders), a hot foil machine (like the Spellbinders Glimmer Hot Foil System), and gold foil.  Die cut the sentiment out using a small banner die.

To assemble, start by adhering the black shimmer panel, followed by the embossed white shimmer panel to a 5″ x 7″ card base using tape runner.  Next arrange the stems and leaves on the card front and adhere using liquid glue.

To finish the card off, adhere the sentiment banner and the roses to the card front using foam tabs for lots of dimension.

I hope you enjoyed this bold and glittery card project and thanks so much for stopping by today.  Be sure to visit the CutCardStock store to purchase any of the supplies showcased today and if you like this project, please leave a comment below!
