Halloween Night Pumpkins Card

So Halloween is tomorrow, but if you still want to make a fun card for someone who loves the spooky day (like me!), then try this quick and simple project!  Using a cute stencil from Clear Scraps, you can whip this bright and festive card up in no time.

Start by trimming a piece of Neenah Classic Crest Solar White cardstock to 4″ x 6″.  Place the Pumpkin Faces stencil on top, and lightly trace around the main images with a pencil as shown.

We’ll be using the pencil marks as a guide to tell us where to add ink to color the pumpkins and grass.  I applied several shades of Distress Oxide inks (Ripe Persimmon, Carved Pumpkin, Mustard Seed, Wild Honey, Twisted Citron, and Mowed Lawn) to the cardstock with small sponge daubers in the areas that would eventually be masked by the stencil (including the border).

Place the Pumpkin Faces stencil back on top of the cardstock where it was before and secure it down with low-tack tape.  Spread Black Glitter Glitz Gel over all of the open spaces and smooth the surface with a palette knife or scraper.  Remove the stencil as soon as you are done and rinse it off in warm, soapy water.

Once dry, you can use the panel as is and just adhere it to a 4″ x 6″ card base.  I wanted to add a little more contrast to my card though, so I trimmed off the edges with my paper trimmer and cut a mat layer and 4″ x 6″ card base from purple and black cardstock, respectively.

For the greeting, I cut three sets of “Happy Halloween” die-cuts from white cardstock and lightly inked one set on just the bottom with Twisted Citron Distress ink before adding shimmer all over with a clear sparkle pen.  After adhering the stack of die-cuts together, I glued them to the front of the card with strong liquid glue to create a bold, dimensional sentiment.

To assemble the card, just adhere the layers together and then to the black card base with tape runner.  I love how the sparkle gel gives the look of a pitch black, but starry and magical Halloween sky!

I hope you enjoyed this fun Halloween card project and thanks so much for stopping by today.  With so many cute holiday stencils in the Clear Scraps shop, you can make quick and easy cards for any occasion!
