With Valentine’s Day just a few days away, I thought it would be fun to share a card that is bold and pretty, but super quick and easy to make. Background dies like the Window on Love die from Hero Arts always make for quick cards because they don’t need much embellishing to look finished. With a few little tricks, I stepped up this die-cut even a little more to make an eye-catching background that I thought was perfectly complemented with just a simple sentiment strip.
I started by trimming a piece of Neenah Classic Crest Solar White Cardstock to 4.25″ x 5.5″. Using an ink blending brush, I then added three colors of ink radiating from the center (Fresh Peach, Raspberry Jam, and Grape Juice) to draw attention to the big heart in the middle of the die-cut.
Die cut the Window On Love design from both Pitch Black and Silver Glitter cardstock. Trim about an 1/8″ off of the bottom of the black die-cut and adhere the silver glitter layer on top with liquid glue, offsetting the black layer to create a fun shadow affect (I do this a lot with my sentiment dies too if they don’t come with a shadow layer die).
Stamp a sentiment from the Love Stamp & Cut set in Versamark ink onto Pitch Black cardstock, add peach embossing powder, and melt with your heat tool. Trim the sentiment out closely with scissors.
Adhere the inked background onto a top-folding A2-sized white card base with tape runner, then apply the die-cut background using liquid glue. Pop the sentiment strip up in the center with foam adhesive.
