Happy Friday friends! I’m excited to be back today to share a couple of projects made with the brand new Layered Stencils Collection from Spellbinders. (Check out the entire March release here!) This collection combines stenciling and diecutting to allow you to easily create eye-popping backgrounds and focal points! I used the stencils and dies in a couple of different ways to make four bright and happy cards for various occasions.
FLORAL HELLO CARD
The Floral Hello Stencil & Die Set contains four layering stencils to create a deeply dimensional sentiment surrounded by gorgeous flowers as well as dies to cut the sentiment and a few floral bunches out. I applied three different shades of purple Distress Inks through the first three stencils in the set and then used Platinum Stardust Butter with the last stencil for a monochromatic look with glittery silver highlights.
Once dry, I diecut the hello sentiment out of the stenciled panel and adhered it on top of three more Royal Amethyst die-cuts before sticking it back into the background for a fun dimensional touch. After matting it with Mirror Silver and Royal Amethyst Cardstock, I popped the panel up on top of a white card base that I had embossed with the Diamond Plaid Embossing Folder. A few Crystal Mix Gems finish off this pretty card.
FLORAL THANK YOU CARD
Next I wanted to try something a little different by removing the background from the stenciled panel completely and working with only the stenciled die-cuts on a separate card front. Using the Floral Thank You Stencil & Die Set, I applied tons of different bright Distress Ink colors through each of the stencil layers (these tiny blending brushes can help you get into the tightest of places) and die cut the different elements out. I also die-cut a Mirror Gold shadow layer and adhered it behind each piece for a fun gilded effect.
To create the background, I trimmed a piece of Cosmic Sky Cardstock to 4″ x 5.25″ and embossed it with the Geo Screen Embossing Folder before matting it with Mirror Gold Cardstock and adhering it to a top-folding A2-sized white card base with tape runner. After arranging the stenciled elements on top, I adhered them down with foam adhesive and added a second sentiment foiled in gold using the Yana’s Special Sentiments Glimmer Plate Set. Gold Mix Gems finish off this fun thank you card.
FLORAL FOR YOU CARD
If one-layer cards are your thing, you can also purchase just the layering stencils alone! I created this fun and feminine stenciled panel by applying Spun Sugar, Kitsch Flamingo, Picked Raspberry, and Black Soot Distress Ink through each of the stencils in the Floral For You Layering Stencil Set. (The Floral For You Stencil & Die Set is also available.) I matted the panel with Mirror Silver Cardstock and added Silver Mix Gems to the flower centers for a little shine.
The background was created by trimming a piece of Brushed Black Cardstock to 4.25″ x 5.5″ and embossing it with the Dazzling Dots Embossing Folder before adhering it to a top-folding A2-sized white card base. After popping the sentiment panel up on top of the card front, I added a tiny sentiment foiled in silver using the Mini Sincere Sentiments Glimmer Plate Set.
SPRINKLED WITH FUN CARD
Lastly, there are also two great background stencils in the collection that layer on top of previously released 3D embossing folders – the Raindrops 3D Embossing Folder and Puff Dotty 3D Embossing Folder. I embossed a piece of white cardstock using the Raindrops 3D Embossing Folder and added a rainbow of Distress Inks through the Raindrops Stencil to create this bright and dimensional background…it’s such a beautiful effect!
I didn’t want to take too much focus away from that fun background, so I just added a black and rainbow-striped umbrella (Brushed Black Cardstock gives the perfect sleek look for an umbrella!) cut using the Umbrella Bloom Die Set to the center. Then I finished off the card by embossing a cute sentiment from the Sweet & Savory Sentiments Stamp Set in white onto more of that Brushed Black Cardstock and popping it up with foam adhesive in the lower right corner.
