Let’s Shell-ebrate Hero Arts

By now you’ve probably heard that Hero Arts is celebrating their 45th anniversary.  In honor of that amazing milestone, A Blog Named Hero is challenging you to create a card geered towards happiness, celebration, and congratulations.  I pulled out some of my favorite old and new stamps to create this shell-ebration card to inspire you!

I knew right away that I wanted to use one of my favorite old background stamps to create a background panel because I loved how the hexagons mimicked the look of the turtle’s shell and I remember this as the first Hero Arts stamp that I absolutely HAD TO HAVE.  Before that I was a casual collector of HA stamps, but when Kristina Werner made a card with this one, I can still recall that urgent need to find it and immediately buy it!  (If you suddenly have the urge to buy it now too, don’t worry…with a quick google search, you’ll find a few places where it’s actually still available!)

I stamped the gorgeous pattern onto a panel of Kiwi Cardstock with Versamark ink, and then covered it with this Green-Gold embossing powder that came in the My Monthly Hero Kit from last November.  Unfortunately, that kit is sold out, but you can subscribe here and never miss another goodie like this again!

I needed to do a little masking to create my little party scene with the Pet Turtle stamp set on some 110 lb Neenah Classic Crest Solar White Cardstock, so I broke out my MISTI to ensure perfect alignment of all of the images.  Since the turtle is a relatively small image and I was only stamping over it once, I just used a Post-It note to mask here.

I drew two little party hats on the turtle and snail using a Copic Multi Liner before coloring all of the images in with Copic markers.  When I was finished, I sliced a little side window out of my card front to slip the hexagon panel behind before adhering it all down to A2-sized top-folding white heavyweight cardbase.

I hope I inspired you to join us over at A Blog Named Hero for this month’s “Celebrate” challenge!  Break out your favorite Hero Arts products (I had so much fun playing with some of my old favs!) for a chance to win a gift voucher to the Hero Arts store!
