Mother’s Day Glitter Framed Art

My mom knows flowers are a given on Mother’s Day, but this year I was looking for the kind that would last a little bit longer.  With Printable Glitter Cardstock from CutCardStock, I was able to whip up a sparkly watercolor piece in no time while adding a few handmade touches.

I used my Silhouette to print this watercolor wreath design from Angie Makes on my glitter cardstock (if you don’t have a Silhouette, you can find free printables that would work as well).  After changing the page settings to 5″ x 7″ to fit my frame, I simply scaled the design down, centered it in the top two-thirds of the space, and sent it to my printer.

Printable Glitter Cardstock is super easy to use…just tear a sheet out from the pad, place it in your inkjet printer, and print a page just like you would normally!  Afterwards, you can trim the cardstock to your desired size.

To add a sweet sentiment, I die-cut several words from Gold Bright Foil Cardstock.  I could have used my Silhouette for this step too, but I really love the way manual die-cutting machines emboss the edges of designs when I use this gorgeous cardstock.

However, since I’m limited by what my thin metal dies can “say” for me, I had to trim up some of my words.  Using detail scissors, I just snipped off parts of the designs I didn’t need until I had spelled out “to my Mother, my Friend”.

To give the sentiment a tiny bit more emphasis, I die-cut the same words out of Curious Metallic Galvanised Cardstock and adhered them underneath the gold die-cuts with liquid glue to form a shadow.  For a little fun texture, I also tied a quick bow using some white Satin Edge Organza Ribbon.

When adhering elements to glitter cardstock, you’ll want to use a strong adhesive like glue dotsfoam tabs, or Ranger Multi Matte Medium.  Although this would make a great Mother’s Day card as well, I framed the piece instead to make it a little more special.  Take a look at that sparkle and shine!

I hope you enjoyed this quick Mother’s Day gift idea and thanks so much for stopping by today.  You can visit the CutCardStock store to purchase any of the supplies showcased today and bonus – glitter cardstocks are on sale this month!
