Before long, many of us will be rushing around for the holidays, desperately searching for last-minute gifts or trying to mail out cards and presents on time. Sending handmade cards can be a ton of work on top of an already busy schedule, but with a simple, yet bold card design, you can easily tackle this task and have fun in the process!
For this card trio, start by trimming pieces of Basis Green, Basis Dark Red, and Basis Aqua Cardstock to 4″ x 5.25″. Stamp the Forest and Deer, Christmas Lights, and Hand Drawn Snowflake background designs all over the panels with Versamark Ink, add embossing powder (here I’m using copper, clear, and pearl embossing powder from top to bottom), and melt it with your heat tool.
For a quick way to add lots of depth and interest to these background panels, lightly blend Pine Needles, Fired Brick, and Peacock Feathers Distress Ink around the edges with a blender brush.
Next, emboss large sentiments from the Big and Bold Holidays and Big and Bold Christmas stamp sets on Curious Translucent Cardstock and trim them out closely with a paper trimmer. (Here I’ve used white, copper, and platinum embossing powders from top to bottom.) Curious Translucent Cardstock is super heavy vellum that is perfect for heat embossing.
Trim two pieces of Neenah Classic Crest Solar White Cardstock and one piece of Environment Desert Storm Cardstock to 8.5″ x 5.5″ and score them down the center to create three top-folding A2-sized card bases.
Adhere the inked background panels to the card bases with foam adhesive. (I wanted a slightly larger border on the green card, so trimmed the background panel a bit before adhering.)
Because the sentiments are so bold, I could hide these super-thin strips of foam adhesive behind the letters to pop the vellum panels up without it showing through.
If you have a little more time, you can add ribbon, sequins, or other embellishments, but I actually love the simplicity of this design.
This fun bulb background stamp would look great on any color cardstock!
And if you don’t have many large background stamps, you can just as easily stamp a quick pattern with smaller stamps freehand.
