Spellbinders Card Kit of the Month – September 2020

I’m grateful to live in an area where there are four very distinct seasons…it really helps breathe a little life into a year where it seems so little has changed in the past several months.  Lately, I’ve been loving the warm temperatures of summer that have been mixing with the lower humidity of fall, so I really got into the early autumn feel of this month’s Card Kit of the Month Kit from Spellbinders.  The “Whimsical Forest” kit is full of gorgeous papers, stamps, die-cuts, and dies that are perfect for both autumn and back to school projects.

The stamp set in this month’s kit is adorable.  With gnomes, hedgehogs, and tons of sentiments, I could have made several cards just using stamps.  To create the background on this card, I blended a tiny bit of blue ink onto white cardstock and added some grassy hills (cut using the dies included) and a tree die-cut.  After stamping the gnomes and mushrooms, I colored them in with Copic markers and cut them out using the coordinating dies in the kit.

The foiled die-cuts in the kit make for some easy and beautiful cards as well.  Here I matted a piece of patterned paper from the Whimsical Forest Paper Pad with some ivory cardstock before adhering it to one of the included card bases.  Then I just arranged some of the flowers and leaves around one side of a gilded frame die-cut and added the sentiment stamped in navy ink and cut out with the coordinating die.

There are several school-themed elements in the kit that are perfect for cards or lunchbox notes.  I arranged a few school supply die-cuts on top of a fun polaroid frame before popping the images up on top of another gorgeous piece of patterned paper from the Whimsical Forest Paper Pad.  A tiny blue puffy heart was the perfect finishing touch.

And I couldn’t let these cute hedgehog images go unstamped!  After coloring them in with Copic markers, I added a gold frame cut out with the included dies and popped it up on top of some more pretty paper for a simple love card.

This last card is all about fall.  I adhered several of the leaf die-cuts to a piece of woodgrain patterned paper and trimmed the panel down to 4″x 5.25″ before matting it with some navy cardstock and adhering it to a white card base.  Then I embossed the hello greeting in gold onto navy cardstock and cut it out with the coordinating die before adding it to the card front with a foiled sentiment die-cut and a few puffy hearts.

I hope you enjoyed this look at the September 2020 Card Kit of the Month and thanks so much for stopping by today. If you missed my posts featuring some of the other September club kits, you can find them here and here.
