Spellbinders March 2023 Club Kits

Happy March friends!  The March 2023 Club Kits from Spellbinders have been revealed and there are some beautiful and unique designs this month!  Today I’m sharing seven card projects featuring the Large Die of the Month, Small Die of the Month, Glimmer Kit of the Month, Clear Stamp of the Month Kit, Embossing Folder of the Month, 3D Embossing Folder of the Month (NEW in 2023!), Stitching Die of the Month (NEW in 2023!), and Clear Stamp & Die of the Month Kits.

LARGE DIE OF THE MONTH

This month’s Large Die of the Month Kit, “Flowering Tree & Collapsible Card Base“, is a massive set of 16 dies that can be used to create a beautiful layered blossoming tree on a 3D stair-stepping base.  You can add the included birthday sentiment to the front steps of the base or purchase the additional coordinating sentiments, “Flowering Tree Sentiments Die Set“, for even more options.  I created a regular A2-sized card with this set in soft and pretty spring colors, but stay tuned for my version of the 3D card coming later this month!

The flowers and leaves from the set were cut from various shades of pink, aqua, and green and layered up on top of a soft brown trunk made of Dune Cardstock.  To create the background, I die cut the center out of some white cardstock using one of the dies from the Essential Arches Die Set and embossed it with this month’s 3D Embossing Folder of the Month.  Then I mounted the frame on top of some cardstock that I had blended Mowed Lawn, Salty Ocean, and Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide Ink over and added the tree and a sentiment (from this month’s Clear Stamp of the Month Kit) with foam adhesive.

SMALL DIE OF THE MONTH

This month’s Small Die of the Month Kit, “Floral Butterfly Card Front“, is another beautiful set perfect for spring.  The kit contains 11 cutting dies that allow you to cut an ornate background, beautiful butterfly with floral accents, and a pretty sentiment.  You can cover an entire card front by mirroring the background design like I’ve done here or just cut it once for a fun pocket-like look.

I cut the background design out of white and Mirror Gold Cardstock for that fun, gilded shadow and adhered it to a white card base that I had blended Salvaged Patina, Peacock Feathers, and Prize Ribbon Distress Oxide Inks over.  Then I cut the butterflies out of Pink Sand, Mirror Gold, and Wild Berry Cardstock and curled the wings up for a three-dimensional look once assembled.  I love how quickly you can create a pretty card that looks like it took hours to make using this die set!

GLIMMER KIT OF THE MONTH

This month’s Glimmer Kit of the Month, “So Kind Of You” contains 3 Glimmer plates along with 2 coordinating dies that can be used to foil an entire A2-sized card front as well as a sweet sentiment and cut some of the pieces out to create focal points.  I applied my foil over a fun ombre background for this bright and pretty thank you card.

I started out by blending Peacock Feathers, Prize Ribbon, and Wilted Violet Distress Oxide Ink over an A2-sized white card front.  After applying Cobalt Hot Foil on the top and bottom of this panel using the larger plate from the kit, I added water to the flowers with a tiny brush to “oxidize” the ink and create some contrast.  The center band and sentiment were foiled onto white cardstock and cut out using the coordinating die before coloring some of the buds with Copic Markers and popping it up on top of the card with foam adhesive.

STITCHING DIE OF THE MONTH (NEW in 2023!)

I am in love with this month’s Stitching Die of the Month because it’s so unique!  This month’s kit, “Nested Layered Stitched Petal“, is a set of 4 dies that creates a beautiful background (that you can use on any kind of card) as well as a fun, layered stitched focal point with dimensional petals that you actually stitch onto the center panel.  I chose shades of yellow and brown for this soft and pretty sympathy card.

I cut the background panel out of some Dune Cardstock and adhered it to a top-folding A2-sized white card base with liquid glue.  Then I cut the center panel out of white cardstock and added a pretty greeting from the Sentiments For You Stamp Set in brown ink before stitching the flower centers using brown thread.  The petals were cut from Chamomile Cardstock before being stitched onto the center panel with white thread.  To finish off the card, I added some bitty flowers and leaves cut using this month’s Large Die of the Month Kit and topped them with Fashion Taupe Pearls.

CLEAR STAMP & DIE OF THE MONTH KIT

This month’s Clear Stamp of the Month Kit, “Butterfly Burst” is a set of 14 stamps that contains three different floral-filled shapes (butterfly and arabesque), a few layering stamps to color the flowers, and four beautiful sentiments.  If your subscription includes the coordinating dies, you’ll also get 6 dies to cut the images and all of the sentiments out.  I stamped the floral shapes onto white cardstock with Versamark Ink, embossed them in gold, and blended Distress Inks over top before cutting them out with the coordinating dies for this simple and pretty hello card.

For the background, I trimmed a piece of white cardstock to 4″ x 5.25″ and cut the center out using the coordinating arabesque die before embossing it with this month’s 3D Embossing Folder of the Month.  After matting it with Mirror Gold Cardstock, I added it to a top-folding A2-sized white card base and adhered my stamped and inked diecuts around the window.  A little sentiment from the stamp set and some Gold Mix Gems finish off this simple card.

3D EMBOSSING FOLDER OF THE MONTH (NEW IN 2023!)

This month’s 3D Embossing Folder of the Month is so beautiful that I’ve already used it on several projects today!  “Tiled Motif” is a smaller pattern with tons of texture, so it can be used in both bold and subtle ways.  I created a super simple just because card using a similar layout to the card above, but emphasizing my background just a tad more.

After embossing a piece of white cardstock using the Tiled Motif 3D Embossing Folder, I lightly inked over the raised areas with Salty Ocean Distress Ink and a foam blending tool before matting it with Mirror Gold Cardstock.  Then I cut a plain white shape for the center of my card using the Butterfly Burst Die Set and added flowers and sentiments cut with the Floral Butterfly Card Front Die Set.  A few Gold Mix Gems finish off this simple and pretty card.

EMBOSSING FOLDER OF THE MONTH

Lastly, let me finally introduce you to this month’s Embossing Folder of the Month, “Stylized Calla Lily“.  It is the perfect subtle background for spring cards or anytime cards and I would have used it more if I hadn’t been so obsessed with the 3D Embossing Folder this month!  I embossed a panel of Teal Topaz Cardstock and inked over the raised areas of the debossed side with white pigment ink for this sweet love card.

The butterfly was stamped onto white cardstock using the Butterfly Burst Stamp Set before inking it with Distress Inks and adding subtle highlights with a white colored pencil.  Then I cut it out using the coordinating die and layered it over a plain black die-cut on the card front.  To finish off the card, I added a pretty sentiment cut using the Thanks Enclosed Sentiments Die Set and a spray of Onyx Mix Gems.
