Sweet Mother’s Day Card with LDRS Creative

Hi friends!  Today I’m sharing a sweet Mother’s Day card featuring some of the stamp and die sets from the latest release by LDRS Creative.  I love creating my own patterned paper for cards and thought that the beautiful images in the Pelargonium Stamp Set would make the perfect background for some of the cute critters in the Friends Like You Stamp Set.

I started by stamping some of the images from the Friends Like You stamp set onto white cardstock with Raven Hybrid Ink.  After coloring them with Copic markers, I cut them all out with the coordinating dies.

To create the bright patterned background, I trimmed a piece of white cardstock to 4.25″ x 5.5″ and stamped the large image from the Pelargonium Stamp Set all the way around the edges with Tickled Pink Hybrid Ink.  Then I blended Tickled Pink and Tangerine Dream Hybrid Ink over the images with blending brushes for some pretty color.  (I repeated this process using the small floral cluster from the Pelargonium Stamp Set and Pink Tutu and Tangerine Dream Hybrid Inks, but set this background aside to use another time.)

I die cut both white and gold cardstock with the oval frame die from the Scalloped Rectangle Frame Die Set.  To give the frame a golden shadow, I cut the gold die-cut in half before adhering it slightly offset to the back of the white die-cut.  I then cut the word “mom” out of black cardstock four times and gold cardstock once using the Sophie Alpha Lower Case Die Set, adhering all of the layers together with liquid glue.

To assemble, I first adhered the stamped background panel to a top-folding A2-sized white card base with tape runner.  Then I popped the oval frame up in the center of the card front with foam adhesive.  Once the letters were adhered to the oval with liquid glue, I popped the cute critters up around them using foam adhesive.
