Happy Monday friends! There is a gorgeous new release from Spellbinders this month (check it all out here!), but I still haven’t had a chance to introduce all of last month’s collections yet! Today I’m excited to share a couple of projects using the Tinsel Time Collection. The adorable dancing characters, gorgeous glimmer designs, and cute sentiments in this huge collection inspired me to create four cards perfect sending a sweet holiday hello.
CHRISTMAS FOX CARD
The Dancin’ Deer Die Set is adorable, but I couldn’t help noticing that you could probably make several other forest animals out of this set just by changing a few colors or adding a tail. I love foxes, so I made a cute Christmas fox by cutting white and Terra Cotta Cardstock and adding a fluffy layered tail created with the chest fur die in the set. After assembling him with liquid glue, I added some plaid detailing to his scarf with a white paint pen.
The background was created by applying the new Satin Champagne Hot Foil to Dune Cardstock using the Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Plate…I love the subtle and pretty look this combination gives! To finish off the card, I foiled a matching sentiment from the Christmas Magic Glimmer Plate Set onto Crimson Cardstock and cut it out using the Sentiment Labels Die Set.
DANCIN’ SNOWMAN MINI SLIMLINE CARD
And how adorable is the Dancin’ Snowman Die Set?! I cut this cute guy out of light and bright cardstock colors, added a few details with that same white paint pen, and assembled him with liquid glue. For the snowy hill, I stamped a sentiment from the Dancin’ Holiday Sentiments Stamp Set onto white cardstock using black ink and cut it out with one of the dies from the Color Block Scenic Scape Die Set.
The shimmering sky was created by first cutting Raindrop Cardstock using the largest die from the Precision Layering Mini Slimline A Die Set and then applying the new Sparkle Silver Hot Foil to the panel using the Starburst Glimmer Plate. After matting it with some Mirror Silver Cardstock, I added it to a top-folding white card base measuring 3.5″ x 6.5″ with tape runner and added the snowman and hill on top with foam adhesive.
CHRISTMAS MEMORIES TAG CARD
This collection also has a ton of gorgeous holiday sentiments that fit perfectly on some of the previously-released tag dies, so I created a card with one of these next. After applying Satin Champagne Hot Foil to Crimson Cardstock using one of the sentiments from the Christmas Magic Glimmer Plate Set, I cut it out using the tag die from the Create A Decorative Tag Die Set. (If you prefer not to use hot foil, these sentiments also come as stamps in the Christmas Memories Enclosed Stamp Set!)
The subtle background was created by inking and embossing Dune Cardstock using the new Cable Knit Stencil. After adding the foiled tag to the card front with foam adhesive, I assembled a pretty winter bouquet on top using the Holiday Blooms Die Set and added a quick bow of twine to finish off the card.
WINTER CHEER CARD
The Tinsel Time Collection also contains great basics like borders and sentiments. Here I cut white cardstock using three and Mirror Silver Cardstock using one of the gorgeous border dies from the Winter Borders Die Set and layered them up over some Raindrop Cardstock for a quick, but elegant card.
I added a sentiment cut from Mirror Silver Cardstock using the Tinsel Time Sentiments Die Set and a couple of tiny blooms cut using the Holiday Blooms Die Set to finish off the card. (I love the unique font in that die set!)
RETURNING FAVORITES – DANCIN’ SANTA AND HOLIDAY EXPRESS
Lastly, there are two seriously cute die sets in the collection that you may recognize…the Dancin’ Santa Die Set and Holiday Express Die Set were previously included in card kits over the last couple of years, but have been tweaked and re-released as stand-alone die sets due to their popularity. I thought I would re-share the cards I made with them back then in case you decide these are must-haves for you (I know I will never part with mine!).
The Dancin’ Santa Die Set is seriously adorable…I had a little fun with mine back then and gave him boxers and an Amazon box (2020-style Santa 😉 ), but I promise he looks great with pants on too!
The Holiday Express Die Set has everything you need to create as long of a train as you want and fill it with presents and ornaments. I modeled mine after the local tourist steam engine line near me for this fun card. (Note: the new Holiday Express Die Set cuts an engine that faces in the opposite direction compared to the one above, so if you have the original die set from the previously-released card kit, then you could create trains in both directions!)
