It’s Monday, so I thought I would share this a bright and cheery springtime card made with some stencils and a really cute chipboard truck from Clear Scraps. I live out in the country and see old farm trucks like this almost every day…they’re usually carrying hay or boxes of veggies, but wouldn’t it be nice if they were spreading butterflies once in a while?
I started by creating a background with a few different shades of Distress Oxide inks (Salty Ocean, Blueprint Sketch, Hickory Smoke, and Black Soot) blended on white cardstock. When the inks had dried, I positioned the Butterfly Flock stencil at the top left of the cardstock and spread embossing paste that I had colored with yellow, orange, and red inks over top. Then, I carefully added a little sparkle to the butterflies with a glitter pen when they had set.
The Old Truck chipboard embellishment was colored with Distress Oxide inks (Candied Apple, Aged Mahogany, Vintage Photo, and Black Soot) using a small sponge dauber to get into all of the nooks and crannies and making sure to add a few faint dirt and rust spots for fun. To add some of the bumpers, fenders, and other details, I placed the Old Truck stencil over the different parts and applied Aged Mahogany Distress Oxide Ink. The stencil image is slightly larger than the chipboard piece, but can be moved around to add the details easily.
I mounted the truck to the card front with foam tape and then stamped a small sentiment onto a die cut cloud before adding the whole thing to a 5″ x 7″ white card base. I hope you enjoyed this bright and cheery card project and thanks so much for stopping by today.
