Welcome to the weekend friends! I’m excited to be back today to share this beautiful new collection from the Spellbinders February release – the Windows With A View Collection by Tina Smith. Just as it sounds, this collection contains all the supplies you need to create breathtaking views for any season or occasion. Here I’m sharing three cards made with many of the dies, stamps, and stencils in the collection perfect for sending a gorgeous view to a friend.
BEAUTIFUL DAY CARD
It was so hard to choose which view to build for my recipient first, but the fun critters and scenic elements in the Backyard Haven View Die Set won my heart. I started by cutting the window and sill out of white cardstock using the Vista View Window Die Set to create a window looking from the inside out. Then I used the outer window die from the same die set to cut the background window panel out of white cardstock, adding the grass, clouds, and mountains with Distress Inks and the Background Scapes Stencil Set.
Once stenciled, I added the sweet bird house, bird bath, tree, and critters on top of the panel…all cut using the Backyard Haven View Die Set. To assemble the card, I embossed Pink Sand Cardstock with the Flowers & Foliage 3D Embossing Folder before adding it to a top-folding A2-sized white card base, and adhered the completed window on top. A sweet sentiment was stamped in grey ink using the Sending Sunshine Sentiments Stamp Set to finish off the card.
SWEET KITTY WINDOW CARD
Windows work both ways, so I decided to create a card looking in this time at a cozy and sweet springtime scene. I cut the window and flower box out of Latte, Dune, and Alabaster Cardstocks using the Vista View Window Die Set, then cut a window background panel out of white cardstock, blending Salty Ocean Distress Ink around the edges to give it a bit of “tinting”. This time I used the windowsill die to create a shelf for my sweet kitty to sit on (my house always has at least one kitty sitting in a window!) who was cut using my Garden Builder Die Set.
The flowers and butterflies were added inside and outside the window (my kitty needed something to watch!) and I used the Botanical Solarium Die Set to create all of those, adding shading with Distress Inks where needed. To finish off the card, I added some pretty patterned paper from the Beach Hut Paper Pad to my card base to look like siding, adhered the window on top, and stamped another beautiful sentiment in brown ink using the Sending Sunshine Sentiments Stamp Set.
TROPICAL SUNSHINE & SMILES CARD
Lastly, I couldn’t resist making a summer-y card with the Coastal Escape View Die Set. This set allows you to build a scene behind your porthole either underwater or above and I, of course, chose palm trees! After cutting the porthole out of Mirror Gold Cardstock, I cut a window background panel out of white cardstock and blended Salty Ocean, Picked Raspberry, Carved Pumpkin, Squeezed Lemonade, and Salvaged Patina Distress Oxide Inks over it to create a bright sunset. The porthole rivets are just Fashion Gold Embellishments positioned over the holes of the die-cut.
The palm trees and hibiscus flower were cut using the Coastal Escape View Die Set as well (this set really works as a stand-alone die set if all you want to do is create gorgeous tropical scenes!) and inked before assembling with liquid glue. I added some woodgrain patterned paper from the Wood Textures Paper Pad to my card base before adhering the window on top and embossed a sentiment from the Sending Sunshine Sentiments Stamp Set in gold to finish off the card.
