Two years ago, I planted bright yellow and coral rose bushes bordering my deck and they have consistently yielded a couple of blooms every month or so during the growing season ever since. But right before the weather turned colder here a few weeks ago, nearly a dozen gorgeous buds started popping and there was color everywhere…almost like they knew they were running out of time! This brilliant display of color inspired me to create a thank you card with an autumn feel using some of the recently released slimline dies and layering stamps from Rubbernecker and I thought I would share all the steps so anyone could make their own beautiful rose garden.
- Stamp the flower layers from the Just Because stamp set using various yellow, orange, and red shades from the Color Fuse Set #1, Set #2, and Set #4 onto white cardstock. To give the blooms a warm autumn feel, I stamped the last layer of each flower with a shade of brown from Color Fuse Set #3.
- Stamp the stems and leaves using Fern and Juniper inks from Color Fuse Set #11.
- Cut all of the flowers and stems out using the coordinating dies.
- Die cut white cardstock with the Slimline OPC Geometric Squares Die.
- To add some texture and shine, dab Versamark Ink in random spots over the die-cut with a blending brush or dauber, cover with gold embossing powder, and melt with a heat tool.
- Trim a piece of aqua cardstock to 3.25″ x 8.25″. Blend Dreamer Ink around the edges using a blending brush.
- Stamp a greeting from the Kittie Says Phrases #1 stamp set onto white cardstock using Versafine Clair Nocturne Ink. Die cut it out with the smallest die in the Inside Scallop Nested Die Set and blend a little Dreamer Ink around the edges.
- Adhere the aqua panel to a top-folding slimline-sized white card base with tape runner.
- Pop the die-cut background up on top of this using foam adhesive.
- Arrange the roses around the sentiment banner and adhere them all to the card front using multiple layers of foam adhesive.
- Trim off any stems that hang over the edge of the card with scissors.
