Baby Girl Onesie Card

Shaped cards are one of those things that are super easy to make, but look like you spent hours on them.  I hardly ever stray from the square or rectangle card path, but what better occasion is there than when someone is expecting a little bundle of joy?

Start by trimming a piece of Neenah Classic Crest Solar White Cardstock to 4.25″ x 11″, scoring it down the center, and creasing the fold well with a bone folder.  Place the folded card base on your die cutting plate and position the Large Baby Onesie Die on top, allowing the tips of the shoulders to hang off the folded edge a bit as shown.  Run the sandwich back and forth through your die cutting machine several times (I find two passes will usually do the trick, but sometimes do as many as four just to be sure) to cut through both layers of cardstock.

You will end up with a shaped white card base that is attached at the shoulders as pictured above.  Cut two more Large Baby Onesies out of patterned paper of your choice.

Trim the tips of the shoulders off of the patterned paper die-cuts with scissors to fit perfectly onto the card base and then ink all of the edges with Worn Lipstick Distress Ink and a foam blending tool to add some depth and finishing.

Adhere one of the inked die-cuts to the front of the card base with tape runner.  Embellish the leg, arm, and neck holes with some lacey ribbon (I use hot glue to adhere ribbon like this).

Turn the card over and adhere the second inked die-cut to the back with tape runner.  Add some lace or ribbon to embellish.

To further decorate the front of the card, I die cut a scrap of Neenah Classic Crest Solar White Cardstock with both the Daisy Dies and Baby Girl Words Dies.  Then I lightly blended Worn Lipstick and Squeezed Lemonade Distress Inks on the die-cuts with sponge daubers (ink right through the daisy dies to use them like stencils).

Tie a bow of pink organza ribbon around the waist and adhere the flowers and sentiment to the front with liquid glue.

The finished card will fit into an A2-sized envelope, and even though it’s a fairly simple design, the shape will be such an unexpected twist!  I hope you enjoyed this simple and pretty card project and thanks so much for stopping by today!
